dissolve Sexuality/Dilution
Bayhydrol® VP LS 2227/1 can be diluted in water. It can be miscible with glycol ether and glycol ether ester in a certain proportion.
Phase Capacitance
Suitable industrial baking varnish co-reactants are: hexamethoxymethylmelamine resin, Partially etherified melamine resins such as Maprenal® MF 904 and 915, Cymel® 303, 325 and 327, water-based aliphatic polyisocyanates such as Bayhydur® BL 5140 and BL 5235.
We recommend using Bayhydur® VP LS 2306 and Bayhydur 3100 as co-reactants when preparing primers and topcoats for plastics.
Features /application
The viscosity of the product is largely dependent on the pH. During storage, the pH may drop, as may viscosity. Adding a small amount of 10% aqueous dimethylethanolamine solution can restore the viscosity to its original value.
Industrial paint:
For optimum pigment wetting, the pH can be adjusted to 8.5 to 9 with a 10% aqueous solution of dimethylethanolamine. Details can be obtained from the associated recommended formulations.
Bayhydrol VP LS 2227/1 is blended with melamine resins for the preparation of baking topcoats with a co-solvent content of less than 5% at the application viscosity. The paint was dried at 120°C for 30 minutes. The ratio of Bayhydrol VP LS 2227/1 to amino resin (calculated on resin solids) is 80:20. There are many different amino resins available on the market, but compatibility should be tested first.
Since the product contains hydroxyl groups, it can also be used as a co-reactant for waterborne aliphatic polyisocyanates such as Bayhydur BL 5140 and BL 5235. The ratio of OH to NCO should be 1:1.
In order to achieve good storage stability of coatings containing Bayhydrol VP LS 2227/1, the pH of the coating should be adjusted between 8.5 and 9 after preparation.
Coatings for plastics:
For coatings on plastics we recommend Bayhydrol VP LS 2306 and/or Bayhydur 3100. The ratio of OH to NCO should be 1:1.5.
Bayhydrol VP LS 2227/1 has good pigment wetting and high shear stability. Ball mills and sand mills are suitable grinding equipment. Even grinding temperatures of 50°C do not have a negative effect on the quality of the paint.
Since there are many different pigments to choose from, their storage stability should be tested. Kerr-McGee’s rutile titanium dioxide pigments, especially Tronox® R-KB-4, are particularly suitable.
Cleaning Preparation and construction equipment Can be cleaned with water, alkaline cleaner or isopropyl alcohol
