Methyl stearate is an ester organic compound, also known as methyl octadecanoic acid. It is a monoalkyl ester formed from long-chain fatty acids. It is a colorless or slightly yellow transparent oily liquid to semi-solid at room temperature, with excellent permeability, thermal stability and antistatic properties. Melting point 37~39℃, density 0.84g/cm3, insoluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents.
Production method
1. Prepared by esterification of stearic acid and methanol.
2. Prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of methyl oleate.
Uses
1. Used in the preparation of surfactants, lubricants and other organic chemicals.
2. Used in gas chromatography stationary solutions, detergents, plasticizers, softeners, cosmetic base materials and pharmaceutical industries, etc.
