Baling Petrochemical’s caprolactam unit was relocated, upgraded and started up successfully

At 2:46 on October 14, the “dual key” project of Sinopec and Hunan Province, the relocation and upgrading and transformation development project of the caprolactam industry chain of Baling Petrochemical, the caprolactam unit line A was successfully started in one go. 15 tons of high-quality caprolactam products were produced.

Baling Petrochemical’s caprolactam industry chain relocation project is a demonstration project to solve the “chemical industry encirclement of the river” and promote the development of the Yangtze River Economic Zone. It is also a “Ten Dragon” scientific and technological research project of Sinopec. The total investment of the project is 15.3 billion yuan. It is built using Sinopec’s new green and environmentally friendly technology with its own intellectual property rights to upgrade the caprolactam industry chain. It will produce 600,000 tons of caprolactam annually. Not only does the production capacity double, but unit product discharges wastewater, COD (chemical Oxygen demand) and comprehensive energy consumption can be reduced by 73%, 67% and 20% respectively.

The new caprolactam device of this project includes three production units and two production lines of ammoximation, ammonium sulfate and caprolactam. It consists of 20 processes including ammoximation reaction, filtration, extraction and water washing. While the main production is caprolactam, ammonium sulfate is produced as a by-product. The process is long, the equipment is numerous, and the process is complex. The improved ammoximation process technology independently developed by Sinopec is adopted to further optimize and upgrade the original production process, and add tert-butanol double-effect recovery, fixed-bed catalyst refining, tail gas treatment system, etc. New technologies promote energy conservation and consumption reduction, reduce “three wastes” emissions, and improve product quality.

As of mid-October, more than 20 units of the project, including material transportation and storage, power and public works, have been put into operation in advance, and 5 of the 20 process units have been put into operation, namely sulfuric acid acid production, No. 2 polymerization, and ammoxime Chemical B line, caprolactam A line, ammonium sulfate A line equipment.
