n-Octanol (octaol): colorless liquid. Has a strong aromatic smell. Density 0.83. Refractive index 1.430. Melting point -16℃. Boiling point 196℃. Not miscible with water, but miscible with ethanol, ether and chloroform.
According to the supply of n-octanol: n-octanol is widely used in flavors and fragrances:
1. Used as a solvent and plasticizer , antifreeze, and also used to make flavors and cosmetics. Raw materials for manufacturing cosmetics and spices. Also used as defoaming agent and lubricating oil additive.
2. Octanol itself is also used as a spice to blend with rose, lily and other floral essences, and as a soap fragrance.
3. Used to prepare carnation, hyacinth, orchids, roses, lilacs and other daily fragrances. Suitable amounts can be used in roses, jasmine, lilac, sweet tofu, honey, orange blossom, etc. Among citrus, parsnip root, cologne, pine needles, etc., it can be harmonized with rose, ylang-ylang, parsnip root, orange oil, and linalool.
4. N-octanol is an edible flavoring that is allowed to be used according to my country’s GB2760-86. It can be used in the preparation of fruity-based flavors such as coconut, pineapple, pineapple, peach, chocolate and citrus.
