What is fumaric acid? Tell you the advantages and applications

[Alias]Fumaric acid, fumaric acid, violaceous acid.

[Molecular Formula]C4H4O4

[Structural Formula]HOOCCH

Fumaric acid

[Properties]Exist naturally in Corydalis, mushrooms and fresh beef. It is a colorless needle-shaped or leaf-shaped crystal of the clinic system. It is odorless and has a sour fruity taste. The relative density is 1.635 (20℃), the melting point is 286-287℃, it sublimates when heated to 290℃, and loses water when heated to 300℃ to form maleic anhydride. Slightly soluble in water, 0.63g can be dissolved in 100mL of water at 25℃, 1.07g can be dissolved at 40℃, and 9.8g can be dissolved at 100℃. It is also slightly soluble in ether, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform and acetic acid, and soluble in ethanol. The chemical properties are very active and can carry out reactions such as polymerization, acylation, amidation, halogenation, hydrogenation, hydration, alkylation and isomerization. It has strong buffering properties and can maintain the pH value of the aqueous solution at 3. right.

[Use]Fumaric acid is used to produce various unsaturated polyesters, and is widely used in the coating industry and the production of fiberglass. It is an intermediate for medicines and pesticides, and is also used in the manufacture of adhesives, optical bleaches, etc. It is widely used as sour agent, flavoring agent, swelling agent and antioxidant additive in the food industry. Its acidity is 1.8 times that of citric acid, and it is suitable to be added to jelly, ice cream, fruit candies, refreshing drinks, Western-style wines, concentrated juices, etc. It can be added alone or in combination with tartaric acid, citric acid, etc.

[Brief preparation method]

① Maleic acid is heated to above 90°C under the action of thiourea catalyst, and undergoes isomerization reaction to generate fumaric acid.

② Using furfural as raw material, fumaric acid can be produced by reacting with sodium chlorate at 100°C under the action of vanadium catalyst.

③Using liquid paraffin as raw material and Candida as strain, the finished product of fumaric acid can be obtained through fermentation, separation, decolorization, crystallization and other processes. .

[Safety and Protection]This product is non-toxic. Packed in woven bags lined with plastic bags, net weight 25kg per bag. Store in a cool and dry place.
