At the China International Coatings Show 2023, which will be held from November 15-17, Clariant will showcase its latest solutions specifically designed to improve the sustainability and efficiency of a range of formulated products and coating applications, At the same time, we meet the increasing expectations of consumers in protecting public health and the environment. At this exhibition, Clariant will display its products at booth A01 in Hall E4 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center with the theme of “High Performance, Carbon Reduction, Localization – Clariant Helps the Sustainable Development of the Coatings Industry”.
New Portfolio ofWetting Agents and Dispersants forIndustrial Coating Applications
Similar to many other industries, the coatings industry has been recovering quickly following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the rebound of China’s coatings market, industries such as exports and construction have received special needs to improve the efficiency and performance of coating applications. Clariant will meet the growing performance demands of industrial coatings with specialized solutions that offer unique properties, such as improving corrosion resistance and reducing coating viscosity. These additives achieve these properties consistently when used in different coating systems.
“We will be showcasing our high-performance additives that support customers in addressing a variety of challenges in coating formulation design, including those in one-component acrylic DTM, two-component epoxy primers or midcoats commonly used in coatings. In various application fields, such as containers, rail transit, construction machinery and equipment, etc. We can provide water-based industrial coating manufacturers with more flexible multi-functional wetting agents and dispersants.” Clariant Care Chemicals Business Sebastian, global marketing director for unit industrial applications
Prock said.
To make it easier for companies in the paint and coatings industry to find suitable additives for their products, Clariant has just launched a Chinese version of its new online coatings selection tool, and the platform will also be demonstrated at the Clariant booth during the China International Coatings Show. The web application allows customized property selection for liquid coatings based on user-specific criteria such as stability, processability and sustainability, returning recommendations for the most suitable additives and formulations. As the industry’s shift toward waterborne coating systems continues to evolve, digital tools will prove valuable to formulators looking for additive advice.
Meeting growing demand for PTFE-free solutions
In addition to the performance and sustainability of coatings, meeting regulatory requirements is another growing concern across the coatings industry. For example, the European Union, Japan and the United States regulate the inclusion of PTFE in ink formulations and coating applications because of the severe ecological impact of inks and coatings containing PTFE. This has also prompted manufacturers to look for alternative additives that do not contain PTFE and has become a trend. At this year’s China International Coatings Exhibition, the products displayed at Clariant’s booth will include such alternative products.
“At the China International Coatings Exhibition, we will be very honored to share an exciting news with visitors – our innovative additive solutions are driving the sustainable development of coatings and inks to a certain extent. We have developed a A range of PTFE-free alternative additives that meet the needs of architectural and furniture coatings, as well as other coating applications. We are very proud that Ceridust®
8170
Environmentally friendly PTFE alternatives like M are helping us fulfill our company’s commitment to contribute to a greener planet. “Ray, Global Marketing Director, Coatings & Adhesives, Clariant’s Adsorbents & Additives business unit

Ceridust 8170
M is an innovative PTFE-free powder coating texturing agent that does not contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and meets the EU’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulations. Among other things, it reduces energy consumption during the powder coating extrusion process.
At this exhibition, in addition to Ceridust 8170 M, Clariant will also exhibit Ceridust
8330, which is also a PTFE-free alternative to fluorinated wax additives and has excellent wear resistance. This unique bio-based additive is produced from renewable resources and is a truly breakthrough product suitable for a wide range of coatings and inks. It has excellent anti-wear properties compared to traditional wax additives and can be used in Water-based and solvent-based coating systems. Compared to coatings containing PTFE, Ceridust
8330 coatings have similar or even higher performance. Adding Ceridust 8330 to the ink can also improve the efficiency of the ink.
