Waterproofing agent performance

Admixtures that can reduce the water permeability of mortar and concrete under hydrostatic pressure are called waterproofing agents. Waterproofing agent is a powder or water agent added during the mixing process of concrete. It is evenly distributed in the concrete structure, filling and blocking the cracks and pores in the concrete, making the concrete more dense and preventing moisture from penetrating.
By improving the compactness-impermeability of the concrete structure itself, achieving the purpose of waterproofing is called rigid waterproofing or structural self-waterproofing. Waterproof concrete should be able to meet the waterproof requirements with an impermeability grade higher than P6, that is, an impermeability pressure greater than 0.6Mpa.

Waterproofing agents can be used in both mortar and concrete. Therefore, there are two standards for inspected mortar indexes and concrete indexes containing waterproofing agents. When mixed into mortar, it must be able to increase the permeability of the mortar by 2-3 times. When mixed into concrete, the final strength of the concrete should not be reduced.
