With the development of my country’s economy and industry in recent years, acrylic acid production capacity has continued to rise, growing from 3 million tons in 2017 to 3.62 million tons in 2021. Analyzing the application structure of butyl acrylate, adhesive application demand accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 41%, followed by acrylic emulsion, accounting for 35%, and the textile field accounts for 10%. Butyl acrylate has a wide range of applications, but adhesives are its main application area. With the rapid development of my country’s express delivery industry, the demand for adhesive applications continues to rise, and my country’s adhesive production has grown steadily, from 8 million tons in 2017 to 9.7 million tons in 2021.

Benefiting from the development of downstream terminal construction, papermaking, adhesives and other industries, my country’s demand for butyl acrylate continues to rise, driving output to continue to rise. In 2017, my country’s butyl acrylate production was 1.3 million tons and will increase to about 2 million tons in 2021. In terms of consumer demand, it has increased from 1.2 million tons in 2017 to 1.6 million tons in 2021.

According to the “2022 Global Butyl Acrylate Industry Market Status Research Report” released by the Industrial Research Center, from the perspective of import and export , my country’s butyl acrylate import scale is relatively small, and the import volume has fluctuated greatly in the past five years. In 2020, the import volume reached 16,000 tons, but by 2021 it dropped to 7,000 tons. my country’s butyl acrylate imports come from Germany, Japan and South Korea, of which Germany accounts for 60%. my country is a net exporter of butyl acrylate, with high annual export volume. In the past five years, product export volume has shown a continuous growth trend, from 140,000 tons in 2017 to 410,000 tons in 2021. From the perspective of export regions, my country’s butyl acrylate is mainly exported to countries and regions such as India, Turkey, Belgium, and Malaysia.

There are many butyl acrylate manufacturers in my country, but the market concentration is high. In 2020, the industry CR5 will reach 60%. At present, the domestic representative butyl acrylate production companies include Satellite Petrochemical, Wanhua Chemical, Shanghai Huayi, Formosa Plastics, Yangtze BASF, Jiangsu Sanmu, Ke Chemical, etc. Among them, Satellite Petrochemical has the highest production capacity, reaching about 24%.

Industrial analysts said that butyl acrylate, as an organic compound, has a wide range of applications, especially in adhesive production. The demand is relatively high. Benefiting from the development of end-use industries, the market demand for butyl acrylate continues to grow. my country’s butyl acrylate production capacity is growing rapidly. While meeting domestic market demand, it is also exported to overseas markets in large quantities, and there is large room for development in overseas markets. In terms of production, my country’s butyl acrylate market is highly concentrated and the competition pattern is relatively stable. It will be difficult for new entrants to develop in the future.
