Steearyl stearate is in the form of white flakes or powder, with a melting point of 52-56 degrees.
Preparation method:
In a 100 mL three-phase container equipped with an electric stirrer, thermometer, and reflux condenser. Add a certain amount of stearic acid, stearyl alcohol and solid acid catalyst to the neck bottle to perform heating and reflux reaction. After the reaction is completed, filter while hot, transfer to a small beaker, wash the product three times with 80% ethanol aqueous solution, solidify and dry in the air and then vacuum dry to obtain a white waxy solid. Weigh to calculate yield.
Uses:
Steearyl stearate has good lubricity and thermal stability , can be used as low-temperature lubricants, plasticizers, softeners, cosmetics and food additives for rubber plastics, etc., and are widely used in light industry, chemical industry, bioengineering, metallurgy and other industries.
